Upcoming Events:

RRW events are FREE and Open to the Public!

Saturday May 21, 10:30-1:30pm:  Clothing Repair @ Nasher Museum, Duke Univ. Since we wear clothes every day, they’re a personal possession that is often damaged. Rather than tossing out that ripped shirt, come learn how to repair it. Using hand sewing techniques as well as “less traditional” approaches to mending, participants will experiment with garment repair. Bring something you’d like to fix or practice with the provided materials.

Saturday June 11, 12-4pm:  Shrine for a Broken Object @ Nasher Museum, Duke Univ. Frequently, we hold onto broken objects that are meaningful. There may be no way to repair them back to functionality or it may be prohibitively expensive to do so.  One way to honor a broken object is to create a shrine for it. Bring something you’d like to memorialize and use the provided materials to create a box shrine. Materials provided, but feel free to bring additional objects or materials.

Saturday June 25, 12-4pm:  Chair Repair @ Nasher Museum, Duke Univ. How many times have you driven by a broken chair on the curb and thought….. could I fix that? Readily available for free, broken chairs are always a tempting mend! Come to this workshop to work collaboratively on provided broken chairs. There will be several stations with different approaches to mending a chair, from weaving to paint to glue and beyond.  Come help out and get inspired to pick up the next bottomless chair you see.

Past Events:

Saturday March 26, 12-4pm:  Ceramic Repair @Nasher Museum, Duke Univ. Do you have a favorite mug, planter, or plate that is broken? Bring this object and explore various ways to repair or reinvent the piece.  Learn tips and tricks for other ceramic repair techniques with provided materials.  If you don’t have anything to repair but just want to learn and play, there will be lots of extra ceramic pieces to experiment with!

Wednesday April 13, 12-4pm:  All About Glue @Nasher Museum, Duke Univ. Glue is a magical substance with many uses. Come explore a myriad of approaches to using glue in this drop-in class.  We will learn the differences between types of glues and practice clamping and drying techniques specific to each type.  Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring something you’d like to glue together!
